A tribute to my Son who served his country (a belated Veterans Day tribute)
Veterans Day has come and gone but my feelings for those who served our country will never be gone. My son served eight years in the Navy. He joined when he was 18, young and dumb. I think more to get away from a bad situation than the fact that he was going to be sacrificing life and limb. From the very beginning things didn't go as he thought they would, but he gave it his best. He married a young lady that was also in the service and they soon had a little baby boy. The marriage was doomed from the beginning, I think, but the joy of bringing Mason into the world was worth the struggles of going through a divorce. He saw things that turned his heart cold and turned away from God. But I believe that one day he'll turn back toward the light and the love of our Heavenly Father. He traveled to places that he'd never be able to see in a lifetime, and saw many sights that I believe tore his heart into.
