Freedom to express opinions

We have the right to express our opinions on any subject, such as 'liking' something on another social media outlet, and if our opinion is not the same as yours, that is okay. We all have the right to have different opinions, after all that is what makes us individuals.  Freedom of speech, freedom to make our own way in this world, freedom to express ourselves as long as it's within the boundary of our laws, is our right. And to be called names just because an expressed thought, like, or opinion does not sit well with you, does necessitate name calling. Remember, I don't agree with all your opinions either, but I don't stoop to name calling. I don't put a label on you because you have different opinions from me. Expressing opinions about things that are going on the world today, is our right. Each of us, as individuals, may bring a thought or opinion to the table, that maybe someone else didn't think about, or maybe what you said makes someone think twice ab...

Scamming

Until recently I didn't know what 'being scammed' meant. Well, I do know now. And it seems that once someone finds you and begins a scam, others come out of the woodwork. So let's be clear, I'm NOT interested in being scammed, I'm NOT your friend, nor will I send you a friend request. If you are legit, then show proof! I'm more than happy to be friends with someone, that is legit, and not trying to take advantage of 'old' people, and someone who truly wants to be a friend. I don't need all that other crap! And if you pretend to be in the military, well better look out, I know people who are in the military. And they know people, and I know how to find out if you are legit. So don't play games with me, I'm not interested! Let's be clear: I DO NOT HAVE MONEY! I live paycheck to paycheck. I do not have an unlimited cash flow, so stay away if you are looking for money. I don't care if you just need $100, I don't have it to spare....

Valentine's Day? What? Again?

Feb 14 th , 2021 – Valentine’s Day I am a sentimental old fool, who always gets weepy at two special days each yar: Valentine’s and Christmas. Both days bring me blessings, to be alive and healthy, but also sadness that I do not have that special someone to share the moments with. Kids do not count; they have their own special moments and special someone. Which I am grateful that they are all well, warm, healthy, and blessed to have found someone. Do you sometimes feel that you missed out on life because you have kept yourself from really opening up? Maybe you’ve felt that life just passed you by and you’ve accomplished nothing worthwhile.   It is these two special days that get to me. So today I’m feeling that I have accomplished nothing, made nothing of myself, and here I am feeling sorry for myself once again! I did accomplish two things in my life: raised two beautiful, and accomplished children, who in turn have given me 5 beautiful grandchildren. So, one could say t...

A tribute to my Son who served his country (a belated Veterans Day tribute)

Image
Veterans Day has come and gone but my feelings for those who served our country will never be gone. My son served eight years in the Navy. He joined when he was 18, young and dumb. I think more to get away from a bad situation than the fact that he was going to be sacrificing life and limb. From the very beginning things didn't go as he thought they would, but he gave it his best. He married a young lady that was also in the service and they soon had a little baby boy. The marriage was doomed from the beginning, I think, but the joy of bringing Mason into the world was worth the struggles of going through a divorce. He saw things that turned his heart cold and turned away from God. But I believe that one day he'll turn back toward the light and the love of our Heavenly Father. He traveled to places that he'd never be able to see in a lifetime, and saw many sights that I believe tore his heart into. His ship helped bring the Christians home when there was trouble abroad, and...

Multitasking

Image
Do you ever find yourself starting a project, then before you are finished you've moved on to something else? Then later you remember, oh yeah, I didn't finish what I started earlier! The older we get the more we are apt to start and move on....  Hmm, oh yeah, we were talking about multitasking. What do you ask, does that have to do with me checking in today? Well, I'll tell you...  let me show you instead: See that kid in the photo, well he has three things going on at the same time. I don't know if you can see it or not but his phone is propped against the dishwashing liquid bottle to his left in front of him, then his plate of carrots and dressing are next, and to top it all off he's holding his switch in his hands. So the kid is watching something on youtube, eating his snack, and playing a game on the switch! So he's got this multitasking scheme down good! Don't we wish we could do that at over the age of 60? Truth be told I can multitask, but I do find...

Playing catch up

Image
Well seems I've been remiss in writing in my blog. Same goes when I tried keeping a diary. Anyway, same old stuff. Today I'm going to stay with the boys so mom and dad can get away for a few hours. Alan works hard, it's manual labor and in the heat so he deserves a little get away occasionally.  Let's see last weekend I stayed with Piper, kept her company. It was Tyler's birthday and what he wanted was to go and ride a motorcycle with his uncle Frank in Big Spring, Tx. So they did. He took off Saturday morning with his uncle and his uncle's buddies (they ride quite often), and spent the whole day with them. They really treated Tyler well and surprised him with a little party. He had a great time! The future motorcycle champ! Well I'm just glad he was riding as a passenger and not handling the thing by himself! Although if they would let him, he probably would have! The 11th of September I drove the company van to Ft. Worth to get it wrapped. So I stayed in a...

Checking in on Sunday

It's been quiet here. Piper is still moping around wishing she had someone to play with. I'm working on learning my real estate investment classes. Boy, it is a lot to learn and I'm not even halfway through the modules. Oh well, it'll give me something to do to fill the hours until the kids get back from their trip. You know those fix and flip shows make it seem so easy. They never show what happens behind the scenes. All the preparation that goes into making a deal to purchase a house to flip. Even the Gaines show that used to be on, you never saw all of what went into making it happen. I've never been good with math and boy is there a lot of financial calculations involved! Well, hopefully my daughter will understand that aspect of this project. We really want to get started and hopefully make some money before the end of the year. Of course for me, I need money by next month! Patience, yep something I've found is in little supply. I have patience, or at least...
